The estate of Chateau La Tour De By dates back to the 16th century, then known as La Roque de By.
The Tour part of the name is in reference to the grand tower that is on the property the By part refers the By area of the Medoc in which Chateau La Tour De By's vineyards are located, an area which occupys the highest altitude of the northern Medoc and is highly regarded for the quality of the fruit grown here.
Bought by three familys in 1965, the Pages, the Lapalue and the Cailloux family, Chateau La Tour De By is now under the sole ownership of Marc Pages of the Pages family who bought out the rest of the Chateau in 1999.
