Chateau D'Orignac Nectar a L'Orange
- Region
- Cognac, France
- Producer:
- Chateau d'Orignac
Wine Description:
This rare and unique nectar is produced from a maceration of organic orange's skin and eau-de-vie from Ch d'Orignac in the Fins Bois region of Cognac. It has a distinctive bouquet of sun-ripened oranges and eau-de-vie, with a well balanced, delicate and elegant taste.
For a number of years now at Orignac we have been producing, in February during the heart of the season of the most beautiful Spanish oranges, a very limited quantity of Orange liqueur.
This delicious liqueur, produced according to a secret family recipe, which has reached perfection after many years, has, until now, only been drunk and enjoyed at Orignac by the Meyer family and those visitors lucky enough to share this wonderful nectar.
Our visitors have always been impressed by and have remarked on the high quality of this nectar, so much so that we have decided this year to produce a little more, in a distinctive and elegant bottle with an equally fine label, to share largely with all those people who already appreciate the Pineau and Cognacs that come from Château d’Orignac.
It is the fruit of a maceration with the Eaux de Vie of Orignac and the delicately hand-peeled orange skins (from certified organic agriculture), brought together in perfect balance with a drop of Martinique sugar-cane syrup.
There is a perfect harmony between the exotic Orange flavours and the noble Orignac Cognac, with a unique, perfumed bouquet, an unctuous taste lifted by a burst of freshness at the end.
Drink chilled at the end of meal, just a small serving, it will give you an inimitable sensation of sun-ripened bitter oranges with a long finish on the palate.
Producer Description
This 20 ha vineyard is located in the heart of the appellation "Cognac Fins Bois" on limestone slopes near the Gironde estuary, 50kms south of Cognac. On this exceptional and unique "terroir", we cultivate with passion and great attention 30 years old Cabernet and Merlot grapes for the Pineau and Ugni Blanc and Colombard, white grapes to elaborate the Cognac.
Château d'Orignac, a family home, has been producing grapes for at least 800 years. Over the successive centuries all its occupants have been deeply involved with the spirit of the property, which has given it the timeless and serene atmosphere it has today. The first known records of the estate, indicate the year 1200, when Ythier, Orignac horseman and squire of the neighborhood married Sybille, Hélies's daughter, squire of Virollet. The building took on its present day aspect when it was modernised by Monsieur de Saint-Légier in about 1840 and surrounded by formal avenue, gardens and woodlands in order to make "a more agreable dwelling place". This was according to records dated 1864.
