Stéphane Mureau is an 8th generation vigneron with a 20 hectare estate in the esteemed Loire commune of Savigny-en-Véron to the north-west of Chinon, a region he describes as the “Pomerol of Chinon”. Between the Rivers Loire and Vienne, the soils are classic sandy gravel and the vines which range in age from 25 to 80 years are farmed organically. The winery was recently refurbished to be at the forefront sustainable practices and to better accommodate organic winemaking, and it is also noted for its fine underground cellar hewn from the tufa and decorated with sculptures carved by local artists.
