Vesevo, Beneventano Aglianico
Wine Description:
The wine is deep ruby red in colour with violet reflections. The complex and intense nose is characterised by an ample bouquet of black fruit combined with warm spices, coffee, and vanilla. On the palate, the tannins are firm and smooth with a clean and dry finish.
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed to retain the natural aromatics and avoid any bitterness from the seeds. Fermentation took place at 26 °C for 15 days. The wine was then transferred into oak barrels and aged for eight months prior to bottling.Producer Description
Vesevo is situated in the Irpinian hills of Campania. Known as the ‘Switzerland of the South’, this is one of Italy’s most exciting wine-producing areas thanks to its distinctive microclimate. The terraced vineyards, planted between 450 and 700 metres above sea level, are subjected to a constant cool breeze that blows off the Bay of Naples. Over the centuries, this same breeze has blown volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius inland, creating calcareous and basaltic soils rich in phosphorus and potassium.
