Producer Description
The Dezat family is one of the oldest wine-growing families in Sancerre. References to the family can be found in records dating as far back as 1550.
André Dezat took over the family vineyards in 1948 and became actively involved in promoting the wines of Sancerre. In the 1970's, he was joined by his sons, Louis and Simon. The Domaine modernized with new facilities and gained new impetus, particularly in terms of the production of wines from Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Grandsons, Arnaud and Firmin Dezat, now also work for the family business.
Since 2006 Domaine André Dezat has produced wines from Menetou Salon, another highly regarded appellation from the Centre of the Loire Valley.
Firmin Dezat, together with his parents Simon and Nadine, have stayed in the original André Dezat cellars. He wishes to become organic and is in organic conversion.
