Chateau des Tours Brouilly

Region
Brouilly, Beaujolais, France
Vintage:
2022
Producer:
Chateau des Tours
Grapes:
Gamay
Wine Description:

Between Macon and Lyon, in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards and at the foot of Mount Brouilly we find this beautifully renovated, magnificent building, located in an exceptional setting in the middle of the vines. Brouilly is very pleasing when young but also drinks well after a few years cellaring.

Tasting Note:

Juicy, quenching red currant, wild raspberry and dried strawberry bristles with acidity and potent finely textured minerality in this old vine Brouilly, with vine age averaging 60 years. Tannins are taut and grippy/gritty through to the lingering cherry and dried floral finish.

Producer Description

Château des Tours is a beautiful estate surrounded by its own vines. The Château itself dates back to the 14th Century and is the heart of the estate. During the harvest, as per tradition, an old bell is rung to signify the start of the day.

Vinification takes place at Château des Tours and each of the different parcels are vinified separately. For the Brouilly, generally the grapes are destemmed, there is a gentle remontage, then pigeage morning and / or night over 14 days depending on the vintage. The wine is vinified and aged in stainless steel.
