Producer Description

Located in Sant’Anna Arresi, the only region of Sardinia where Carignan may be produced, Cantina Mesa crafts elegant, acidity-driven wines. Mesa stands at the top of slopes that guide the eye down to the Porto Pino Valley, which is protected from the Mistral and surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. The Italian advertising expert-turned-winery owner Gavino Sanna described the area as, “A terroir with a mother’s generosity, a land that holds nothing back; its riches and subtleties, its aromas and fragrances, soul and knowledge.”

The name Mesa means table or dinner table in both Spanish and Italian, and perfectly encapsulates the soul of the winery – sharing the bounty of Sardinia with friends and family.

The contemporary winery is set over three floors to ease the winemaking process. Carefully selected grapes are destemmed on the top floor, and are left to precipitate directly into the vats on the floor below, where the must begins its transformation. The wine is then transferred to the lowermost part of the cellar, where wooden and concrete barrels are used for the final refinement.
