Wine Description:
A complex mixture of red and black fruit notes including blackberry, black currant and black cherry. The wine's expressive and intense spicy aromas with a touch of graphite are characteristic of our Graves terroir. Fine and elegant tannins, silky texture and fine structure.
The 2015 vintage was particularly successful in the Sourthern Medoc and Northern Graves with the wines from Pessac-Leognan showing the harmonious fruit that the 2015 will become known for. The Fieuzal 2015 is darker and firmer than many others and is one that will prove to be very long lived, if you are patient enough to give it the time it will be well worth the wait. The wine has an intense blood-red colour with a dense robe and violet, almost plum-like tints. The nose has a complex mixture of red and black fruit notes including blackberry, black currant and black cherry. The wine's expressive and intense spicy aromas with a touch of graphite are characteristic of our Graves terroir. Careful and precise extraction has offered a firm, dense attack with the fine and elegant tannins of our excellent Cabernet clearly apparent. The wine's already-silky texture and fine structure point towards greatness in the years to come. This vintage's key characteristic is without doubt the precision of the finish with its wonderful length. Without being over-extracted, this wine is a clear demonstration of our Fieuzal terroir.
Producer Description
Located in the village of Pessac-Leognan in northern Graves, the southern part of Bordeaux, Chateau Fieuzal dates back to the early part of the 19th Century and has changed hands several times since. Significant ownership was under the Ricard family who owned other prized estates in Pessac-Leognan such as Domaine De Chevelier and Malartic Lagraviere.
These days, under the ownership of Lochlann Quinn, Chateau Fieuzal consists of 39 hectares of vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon for both their red and white wines.
